Meet the Doctors: Karl A. Reichardt, DVM (Practice Owner), Cate Gately-Dean, DVM (Practice Owner), Dan Doherty, DVM.

Dr. Reichardt and Dr. CateWe are pleased to offer the services of Drs. Karl Reichardt, Cate Gately-Dean and Dan Doherty. Each doctor has experience in treating companion, avian and exotic animals. In addition to practicing general medicine and surgery, our doctors pursue specific interests in various other aspects of veterinary medicine.

 

Dr. ReichardtDr. Karl R. Reichardt is a 1972 graduate of Michigan State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He has an interest in preventive medicine and geriatrics. Dr. Reichardt is also a licensed hot air balloon pilot, it is from his interest in the sport that we acquired our logo. He is an avid outdoorsman with a great appreciation of nature and enjoys travel, hiking and fly-fishing. He shares most of this time with his wife, Carol, and his best friend, Sage; his yellow Labrador Retriever.
 

Dr. CateDr. Catherine Gately-Dean (Dr. Cate)is a 1991 graduate of Virginia-Maryland School of Veterinary Medicine. She joined the practice in 1997 and enjoys working with ferrets, rabbits and other small animals. Her spare time is spent with her husband and their three children and actively participating in school events and their sports programs. Their family includes their Labradoodle, Kanga and cat Popper. Dr. Cate and her husband live in Mayo, Maryland and enjoy supporting their local community.
 

Dr. DohertyDr. Dan Doherty (Dr. Dan) is a 1988 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He resides in the Annapolis area where he graduated from Annapolis High School in 1968. In addition to his veterinary career, he is an attorney and served as an Assistant States Attorney responsible for the District Courts Division of Anne Arundel County. He has been married to his wife Kris for 30 years and they have two grown sons. Dr. Dan is an active lacrosse player, gardener and has two dogs; a Labradoodle, Bailey and Welsh Corgie, Max.
 

Meet the Leadership Team: Sandlin Sams-Hayward and Amy Chaney

We are also pleased to offer the services of our Team Leaders, Sandlin Sams-Hayward and Amy Chaney. Each leader has experience in administration and treatment for companion and exotic animals. In addition to providing guidance to the staff and assistance to the doctors, our leadership team is actively pursuing specific interests in other aspects of specialized veterinary training.

 

SandySandlin (Sandy) Sams-Hayward, our Veterinary Administrative Coordinator has worked with our practice since 2003. She was born in Landstuhl, Germany, raised in the Midwest and has been a resident of Maryland since 1986. Her career has entailed working as a Project Manager of Government contracts with AT&T for 13 years. She is also cross trained as a veterinary Technician Assistant and Client Relations Specialist. Relaxation outside of work include spending time with her family/pets, tranquil days by the Chesapeake Bay and skiing.
 

AmyAmy Chaney, our Veterinary Lead Technician and Treatment Coordinator, currently attends Dallas Cedar Valley College Tech Program online. She is working toward an Associates Degree in Science to obtain her credentials as a Certified Veterinary Technician. Since joining the practice in 1998, she has dedicated her time to the betterment of the hospital and its patients. She resides in the Annapolis area accompanied by her feline friends, Andy and Floyd. Outside of work she enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.
 

Meet the Tech Team: Joni Moreland, Jason Cutler, and Erin Awtrey.

Our treatment staff welcomes the opportunity to be of assistance to your pets. They are a knowledgeable and experienced team dedicated to helping you care for your pets and educating you on the importance of our wellness program. Please feel free to ask them questions about your pet(s) and continued health options.

 

JoniJoni Moreland, has worked with our practice since 2005 as a part time Tech Assistant and Client Relations Specialist. Joni has been a veterinary technician for over three years and also works part time with Dogwood Acres Pet Retreat in Davidsonville. She lives on her family owned and operated turf farm where they raise many different crops as well as Angus and Hereford Cross Cattle. She enjoys horseback riding, basketball, friends, family and caring for your pets.
 

Jason Jason Cutler recently joined our practice as a cross-trained, Technician, Technician Assistant, and Client Relations Specialist. Jason has over 5 years of experience specifically working as a Veterinary Technician. In his spare time he enjoys volunteering at Herald Harbour Fire Department, and studying to become a paramedic. Jason also enjoys spending time with his 3-year-old rough coat collie, Freedom, nephew, and friends. It is a pleasure to work as a Vet Tech helping your pets!
 

Erin Awtrey, a full time cross-trained Client Relations Specialist has worked with our practice since October of 2006. Erin graduated from High Point University in North Carolina and was a special education teacher for seven years in Texas. She was born and raised in Maryland and resides in Bowie with her husband Justin, two cats (Cybil and Trevor) and dog, Sydney. Erin has rode horses, trained and competed for 23 years. She has always loved animals and feels a special connection with them.
 

Meet the Client Relations Specialists (Receptionists): Linda Hammond, Denise Sullivan, Dorothy Campbell, and Christine Mahaffey.

Our Client Relations Specialists Team is available to assist you with your questions and ensure that your visit is exceptional. They are ready to schedule your appointments and help keep your pet on track with their reminders. They look forward to assisting you and your every need.

 

LindaLinda Hammond, a senior Client Relations Specialist has been with our practice since 1990. She was born and raised in Grand Island, New York and has been a resident of Maryland for 22 years. She joined the Reichardt family many years ago and has felt working at this practice is not only an honor but a privilege. It is her pleasure to know and care for you and your companions.
 

DorothyDorothy (Dot) Campbell, a former Client Relations Specialist and now part time Client Relations Clerk has worked with our practice since 2000. She was born in California, raised in Washington DC. and a resident of Edgewater, Maryland since 1987, Dorothy has retired twice and enjoys gardening and remodeling her home. Her career has entailed claims processing with the Carpenters Union and computer operation with the Board of Education. Bored with retirement, she is enjoying her third career and the opportunity to work with Reichardt Animal Hospital.
 

DeniseDenise Sullivan, a part time/cross-trained Client Relations Specialist has worked with our practice since 2000. Denise is a former native of Centreville, Virginia, where she spent her youth on the farm training, competing and showing horses. In 1999, she married her husband Rob and moved to Maryland. They now reside in Edgewater with their children. Denise's mother and (Dachsund) Precious have also recently joined them. She enjoys her new career and the opportunity to spend time with your pets.
 

ChristineChristine Mahaffey, a part time Client Relations Specialist has worked with our practice since 2003. She is a student of Bowie State University, studying to complete a bachelors degree in Psychology and continue on to graduate school. Christine was born and raised in New York and moved to Maryland to attend University of Maryland where she met her husband, George. They reside in Bowie Maryland and enjoy spending time with their two Siamese cats, Hank and Lloyd, Toy Fox Terrier, Max and Chihuhua, Pedro.
 

Meet the Maintenance/Cleaning Specialists

Sarai and Martin Martinez, part time cleaning/maintenance specialists, joined the practice in 2006.
